GREG PORTMAN

As the founding principal, Greg has guided the growth and business practices of PFVS since its formation in 1987. In addition to his management of the firm, Greg has also demonstrated the ability to produce projects of exceptional quality. Organizational skills, refined over 30 years of experience, enhance Greg’s ability to meet budget and time constraints and to anticipate and avoid potentially problematic situations.

Greg has been responsible for the management of numerous multi-million dollar projects through which he has gained valuable insight into all phases of the planning and development of a wide range of hospitality projects.

A graduate of Ball State University, Greg received the degree of Bachelor of Architecture in 1974. He is a member of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and was recently featured in the Who’s Who in Hospitality by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

CLARENCE VINSON

As Director of Design, Clarence is responsible for overseeing the planning and design of all custom PFVS projects. Under his guidance, each project is carefully analyzed to determine functional requirements and form-giving characteristics. The skills exhibited by Clarence in the delivery of these services have earned him the reputation as one of Atlanta’s foremost designers.

Since beginning his career in 1973, he has been responsible for the design of more than 20 million square feet of commercial and residential projects. In addition, to concentrated experience in office buildings, hotels and retail centers, he has also designed multi-family housing projects and many prominent single family homes and estates, such as the Evander Holyfield Estate. His design talent has been showcased in Southern Homes, several issues of Better Homes & Gardens.

BRETT SUNDERLAND

An accomplished architect with experience in a broad spectrum of building types, Brett provides concentrated experience in the design of small office buildings, retail centers and health care facilities to PFVS’s growing list of expertise. As design and project leader for PFVS hotel renovation studio, Brett’s understanding of hospitality oriented concepts such as core modernization and his architectural knowledge base prove invaluable.

Since beginning his career in 1977, Brett has gained recognition as a skilled designer and efficent administrator of projects ranging in size from one-story neighborhood retail centers to six-story corporate office buildings. In addition to individual building design, he is also experienced in long range hospital campus master planning and the layout of multiple building office parks.

A graduate of Clemson University, Brett earned the degrees of Master of Architecture in 1981 and Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Architecture in 1978. He is a charter member of the Atlanta High Museum of Art.

HAITHAM HADDAD

With over 35 years of diversified experience in architecture (USA and international), and a passion for vernacular, modern minimalist, and sustainable design, Haitham,  as Design Director, brings to the firm expertise in the planning and design of commercial and institutional facilities, houses of worship, hotels and resorts, high-rise residential, and unique custom homes.

His international experience includes projects in Taiwan, Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Egypt where he worked with world-renowned architect Hassan Fathy.

An award-winning designer in the fields of architecture, product design, graphics, and illustration, and an accomplished musician and composer, Haitham’s architectural work has been showcased in various national and international publications.  He graduated from the American University of Beirut (AUB) in 1981 with a six-year Bachelor of Architecture degree, at the top of his class, and was honored with the university’s prestigious Penrose Award.

While in independent practice, prior to moving to the US, Haitham taught Basic Design, Architectural Design, Regional Architecture, Freehand Sketching and Watercolor Painting at his Alma Mater, and served as AUB’s Ethnoarchaeology Team Architect in Syria.

Fluent in English, French, and Arabic, Haitham served on the Board of Governors of Alliance Française d’Atlanta from 1993 to 2008, and is the originator and a Founding Board Member (President 2006-2008) of Alif Institute, an Atlanta-based nonprofit educational center that fosters cultural understanding and exchange between the United States and the Middle East.

Associates

JAE CHONG

As an intern who joined the company in 1989, Jae Chong has over 21 years of experience in the field of architecture. Established as one of the first Associates of the firm in 1997, his diverse experiences include Hotels, Office, Medical facilities, Schools, and Retail centers. Involved in all phases of the projects including master planning, he has personally managed multiple projects of all sizes and locations throughout the country.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Mr. Chong immigrated to the United States in 1977, and received most of his education in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a graduate of the College of Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and continues an involvement with the education of young architects.

WARREN LEDFORD

As the firm’s Director of Technology, Warren Ledford oversees the company’s I.T., networking, programming and CADD applications. Over the past 25 years, Warren has developed numerous customized applications for several different CADD platforms including ARRIS, AutoCADD, and Revit. Warren’s vast knowledge of technology provides the company with unparalleled insight into the world of computer aided design and project delivery.

A native of the Atlanta area, Warren serves as the administrator for his Bible study class and has developed web sites for the class. He also enjoys traveling to the north Georgia Mountains for equestrian sports.

Warren graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Architecture School at Southern Polytechnic in 1983.

GENE MONTEZINOS

With over 40 years of experience in Architecture, Gene has a wide range of project experience specializing in Hospitality, Office and Mixed-Used projects and emphasizing design, project management, and project delivery. Gene is efficient at leading multiple projects and teams through all phases of design and construction. He is knowledgeable in zoning, building codes, construction and construction documentation, construction administration, contracts and client satisfaction.

Gene grew up in Charlotte, NC and attended NC State University and Auburn University before settling in Atlanta.
